Atalanta Sporting Director, Tony D’Amico has affirmed the club’s commitment to retaining Ademola Lookman and their other key players during the January transfer window.
This follows Lookman’s stellar performances for both club and country throughout the year, including being crowned the 2024 African Player of the Year and ranking 14th in the Ballon d’Or standings.

The former Everton forward has drawn interest from top clubs, particularly English Premier League giants like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal. Lookman continued to shine for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in their recent 1-1 draw against Lazio. He provided a crucial assist for Charles De Ketelaere’s equalizer after Fisayo Ayodele-Bashiru had given Lazio the lead.
Speaking post-match, D’Amico emphasized that Atalanta remains focused on their objectives as they navigate a thrilling Serie A title race. “There is no extra pressure; we continue to take it one game at a time and focus on ourselves. This year has been incredible, with two finals and one trophy. Lazio are a strong team, having invested wisely in the transfer market, and they posed a quality challenge tonight,” the 44-year-old told Sky Sports Italia.
When asked about potential January departures, including Lookman and midfielder Ederson, D’Amico expressed the club’s determination to keep their squad intact.

“The January transfer window is always challenging for clubs. If opportunities arise, we’ll explore them, but our priority is maintaining the squad we currently have,” he stated.
Atalanta entered the holiday season as Serie A leaders, but Inter have since matched their points tally after a 3-0 victory over Cagliari, with a game in hand.
