Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua kicked off the new year with a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos State residence.
The two-time heavyweight boxing champion presented the president with an autographed glove bearing the inscription, “To the Great Asiwaju Jagaban Borgu of Africa, Bola A Tinubu”.
Joshua, who is in the country for the festive season, had previously visited Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, where he showcased his cultural pride by prostrating to greet the governor.
The boxing champion’s visit to President Tinubu was announced on the Presidency’s X handle, accompanied by photos from the meeting.
This gesture highlights Joshua’s connection to his Nigerian heritage, despite his global fame as a boxing icon.
