The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power supply rationing across parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from January 6 to 20, 2025, due to the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) ongoing road dualisation project along the Apo axis.
In a statement by Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, the relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line is necessary to facilitate the project.
As a result, there will be daily power outages from 9 AM to 4 PM, affecting areas including Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, and Apo Mechanic, as well as parts of Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe Chika, and Alaita axis.
Mrs. Mbah explained that the planned outage will allow for the dismantling and reconstruction of the transmission towers and the restringing of power cables, enabling bulk power supply to resume from the Gwagwalada Substation to the Apo Transmission Substation.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured customers that efforts would be made to complete the relocation swiftly to restore normal power supply.
