Spanish La Liga side, Valencia have made their first signing under new manager, Carlos Corberan, bringing in Super Eagles forward, Umar Sadiq on loan from Real Sociedad.

The club had been pursuing Sadiq’s signature ahead of Corberan’s appointment, and the move was approved by the new boss. Real Sociedad, keen to offload the striker who no longer featured in their plans, agreed to the deal.
Sadiq’s stint at Real Sociedad was marred by injury shortly after his arrival in 2022, derailing his career in San Sebastian. He managed just three goals last season, leaving him on the fringes of the squad.

With Sociedad signaling their openness to a transfer, Valencia capitalized on the opportunity. The 27-year-old joins the club on loan until the end of the season, with Valencia paying a €1 million loan fee. The deal includes a purchase option set at under €10 million.
Valencia, struggling with just 17 goals in 18 La Liga matches this season, are hoping Sadiq can bolster their attack and improve their form under Corberan’s leadership.
