President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of six brave soldiers who lost their lives during a dawn terrorist attack on an army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno State, on January 4.

The attack, carried out by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), involved trucks and motorcycles, with the insurgents setting fire to the base and army vehicles.

In a statement, Tinubu praised the military’s swift response, particularly the air component, which launched effective retaliatory strikes against the attackers.

The President noted that the targeted air raids resulted in the significant neutralization of numerous terrorists and the destruction of their assets as they attempted to flee.

Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack, emphasizing the need to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He also commended the armed forces for their bravery and resilience, assuring them of the nation’s gratitude and support.

The President further emphasized the need for the military to take the war to the camps of bandits and terrorists, particularly in the Northwest, where innocent villagers continue to face threats to their lives and homes.

He called on Nigerians and the media to support the military’s efforts to restore peace and security across the nation.
