The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, will host the much-anticipated draw for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 on Wednesday night. The event is set to begin at 20:00 local time.
The draw will feature East African football legends, Hassan Wasswa (Uganda), Mrisho Ngasa (Tanzania), and McDonald Mariga (Kenya) as draw assistants. Mariga, a Nairobi native, joins his fellow icons to represent the region’s football heritage. Co-hosts Kenya, making their CHAN finals debut, will join tournament veterans Uganda and Tanzania in the lineup. Defending champions Senegal and two-time winners Morocco are among the top teams in the draw.

The 32-story KICC, an iconic architectural masterpiece in the heart of Nairobi, provides a stunning setting for the ceremony. Known for its cylindrical design and panoramic views of the city, the KICC features the Tsavo Ballroom, East Africa’s largest conference chamber, and an amphitheater, making it a fitting venue for this landmark football event. Since its completion in 1973, the KICC has symbolized Kenya’s modernity and cultural heritage, hosting numerous international conferences and events.
This marks Kenya’s first time hosting a continental football tournament, with Nairobi standing out as a commercial and technological hub in East Africa. Home to renowned clubs such as Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Tusker, and Mathare United, the city has a rich football tradition.
