Nigeria’s D’Tigress defeated hosts China 88-77 in Foshan, Guangdong Province, on Wednesday to end their three-game series with a victory as preparations continue for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
The reigning African champions dominated from the opening quarter, racing to a 32-17 lead before extending their advantage to 58-29 at halftime.
China responded in the third quarter and reduced the deficit slightly, but Nigeria maintained control to enter the final period with a 71-52 lead.
The hosts improved further in the fourth quarter, but D’Tigress held firm to secure a convincing 88-77 victory.
The win also avenged Nigeria’s two previous defeats to China in the series. D’Tigress lost 70-67 in the opening game last Friday before suffering a 69-65 defeat in the second meeting on Sunday.
Nigeria will now continue their World Cup preparations in Tenerife, Spain, where they are scheduled to face the hosts and Belgium between August 15 and 24.
The team will then move to Zaragoza from August 25 to September 3 for final warm-up games against Mali and Puerto Rico.
D’Tigress began their World Cup preparations in the United States from July 29 to August 2 before travelling to China.
The seven-time African champions will head to Berlin, Germany, for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, scheduled for September 4 to 13.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside South Korea, Hungary and France.
