Ayman Ashour, Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education, has directed all university hospitals in the country to be put on the highest alert to treat the wounded and injured from the Gaza Strip. This decision follows Egypt’s successful mediation efforts in achieving a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, in collaboration with regional and international partners.

Ashour emphasized that the move is in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to coordinate with all relevant parties to provide support to the people of Gaza. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of Egyptian universities in assisting Gaza since the onset of the crisis, noting that university hospitals have been instrumental in offering medical treatment to the injured.

Additionally, the universities have launched medical convoys, organized blood donation campaigns, collected donations, and provided essential medicines for Gaza. They also supported the families of the wounded and collaborated with civil society organizations to support students. Medical professionals have been stationed at the border crossing to aid in the treatment of the injured.
