Nigeria’s U-20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, have landed in Cairo, Egypt, as they gear up for the 17th edition of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which kicks off on Sunday in the North African country.
The delegation, consisting of 24 players and nine officials, was led by Head Coach Aliyu Zubairu. They arrived at Cairo International Airport on Sunday evening via Egypt Air and are currently lodged at the Jewel Sports City and Aqua Resort.

The seven-time African champions held their first training session on Monday evening as they began preparations for the continental showdown.
As part of their build-up, the Flying Eagles will face host nation Egypt’s U-20 team, the Young Pharaohs, in a friendly encounter today. The match is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. Nigerian time) at the Cairo International Stadium.

Nigeria will open their tournament campaign against Tunisia on Thursday, May 1st, at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
The Africa U20 Cup of Nations also serves as the qualification pathway to the FIFA U20 World Cup, which will be held in Chile from September 27 to October 19. The top four teams from the tournament will secure their spots to represent Africa at the global showpiece.
