The Anambra State Government has taken a bold step in its fight against crime by demolishing a hotel that served as a hideout for kidnappers.
The hotel, Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, also known as “La Cruise Hotel,” was located along the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
According to the Anambra State New Media, the hotel had over 30 well-partitioned graves on its top floor, as well as a shrine.
The government’s action is part of its efforts to rid the state of criminal activities, particularly kidnapping.
The demolition was carried out by the state’s security outfit, ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi,’ also known as ‘Agunechemba’.
The outfit had previously busted kidnappers’ hideouts in Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area, on January 20.
The Anambra State Government has vowed to continue its crackdown on crime, with the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Christian Aburime, confirming that more buildings will be destroyed if they are linked to kidnapping, robbery, or other criminal activities.
