Tension is brewing in Lagos State as two lawmakers, Hon. Lanre Afinni and Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, have been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) over their alleged roles in the impeachment of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on January 13.
The lawmakers are being held at the DSS office in Magodo, where they are being interrogated about the destruction of government properties during Obasa’s removal.
According to reports, Hon. Ogunkelu, representing Epe 2, and Hon. Afinni, representing Lagos Island Constituency 2, are facing allegations of vandalization of public property.
Their arrest has sparked outrage among their colleagues, who have mobilized to protest at the DSS office.
This development is the latest in the ongoing speakership crisis rocking the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The situation remains volatile, with many calling for calm and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
