Lagos State House of Assembly members have reaffirmed their support for Mojisola Meranda as speaker, rejecting Mudashiru Obasa’s claim that he remains the speaker.
Obasa, the ousted speaker, returned to the assembly complex on Thursday with security operatives, coinciding with the withdrawal of Meranda’s security aides.
Lawmakers, led by Stephen Ogundipe, representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1, called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Lagos to intervene in the leadership crisis.
Ogundipe expressed the lawmakers’ disappointment and frustration, stating that they have been law-abiding and loyal to the state, but want to be respected and recognized as elected representatives.
The lawmakers emphasized that any leadership decision should involve them, rather than being imposed upon them.
The APC leadership’s intervention is crucial in resolving the crisis, as the lawmakers insisted that Meranda remains the speaker.
