Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has been reinstated as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following weeks of political turbulence.
During an ongoing plenary session at the Assembly chambers on Monday, Hon. Noheem Adams of Eti Osa Constituency 1 nominated Obasa for the speakership, a motion that was seconded by Hon. Nureni Akinsaya of Mushin Constituency.
The reinstatement follows a leadership crisis that erupted in January when 32 lawmakers removed Obasa and former Clerk Olalekan Onafeko.
However, on Monday, March 3, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, who was previously sworn in as Speaker, officially resigned from the position. She was subsequently nominated and sworn in as the Deputy Speaker.
This development signals a return to stability within the Lagos State legislature after a period of intense political wrangling.
