Armed bandits launched a deadly attack on Sabuwar Tunga community in Adabka ward, Bukkuyum Local Government Area on Tuesday, resulting in the killing of 12 vigilante members and the abduction of four residents.

According to intelligence sources, local vigilantes initially repelled the attack and pursued the assailants into the forest. However, the bandits regrouped and ambushed the vigilantes, overwhelming them and inflicting heavy casualties.

A security source in the area confirmed the incident, stating, “The community initially resisted, but the bandits later ambushed our men, leading to the tragic loss of 12 vigilantes.”

The attackers reportedly retreated further into the forest after the ambush, raising concerns over escalating violence in the region. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
