Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has appealed to citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
In an address to the people of Rivers State, Fubara emphasized his administration’s commitment to constitutional order and the rule of law, despite the political impasse.
Fubara assured the people that his priorities remain the security of lives and property, as well as advancing the well-being and prosperity of Rivers people.
He noted that good governance has continued in the state, with salaries being paid and projects executed to move the state forward.
The governor expressed confidence in the resilience of Rivers people, urging them to face the situation with wisdom, patience, and faith in the democratic process.
He also assured that his administration will engage with relevant institutions to ensure the state’s democracy remains strong.
President Tinubu declared the state of emergency due to the unabated political crisis in the state, suspending Fubara, his deputy, and the elected members of the state Assembly. Vice Admiral Iboette Ibas has been appointed to administer the state.
