The Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has ruled that the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the State House of Assembly was unconstitutional, illegal, and therefore null and void.
The judgment which was delivered on Wednesday, the court also voided all proceedings and resolutions passed by the House on January 13, 2025 — the day Obasa was removed from office.

Obasa had taken legal action against the Lagos State House of Assembly and Mojisola Meranda, who was named Speaker following his removal. In the suit, Obasa challenged the legitimacy of the process that led to his ouster.
The court’s verdict effectively reinstates Obasa and invalidates all legislative actions taken during the session that led to his removal.
