The death toll from the building collapse in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos has risen to seven, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
The agency reported that 13 people, including nine men and four women, have been rescued alive, while seven bodies, comprising five adult females and two adult males, have been recovered from the debris.
The building collapse occurred on Saturday, trapping several people beneath the rubble. The structure housed a restaurant, with staff and customers present at the time of the incident.
LASEMA said emergency responders are maintaining safety precautions and crowd control around the site, with investigations into the cause of the collapse ongoing.
A total of 20 individuals have been accounted for in the incident, with rescue efforts continuing.
The agency has cordoned off the area to protect responders and onlookers.
