A coalition of women under the banner Rivers Women United for Sim (RWUS) held a peaceful demonstration in Port Harcourt on Thursday, calling for an end to the political unrest in Rivers State and demanding the reinstatement of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In large numbers, the women gathered to express their support for the embattled governor, describing Rivers as a state known for peace. They appealed directly to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing political crisis and restore stability to the state.

The group urged the federal government to reinstate all suspended elected officials, stating that Governor Fubara had not committed any offence warranting his removal from office. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for him and his administration.
The demonstration is the latest in a series of protests by women in the state. Since Fubara’s suspension in March, RWUS and other concerned groups have organized rallies across the state, demanding his return.
One of the most notable protests occurred on April 11, when hundreds of women flooded Aba Road in Port Harcourt, eventually marching to the Rivers State Government House. They carried placards with inscriptions such as “Bring back Fubara”, “Save our democracy”, “Is the law different for Rivers State?”, and “God of justice, arise for Rivers State.”
The women, many of whom identified as mothers and wives, sang solidarity songs as they pleaded for the governor’s reinstatement and the restoration of democratic governance in Rivers State.
