Gabon’s Constitutional Court has confirmed Brice Oligui Nguema’s victory in the country’s presidential election, held on April 12.
Nguema, who led a coup in August 2023 that ended 56 years of rule by former President Ali Bongo and his family, secured 58,074 votes, accounting for 94.85% of the total.
Nguema is set to be inaugurated on May 3, marking the beginning of his seven-year term.
He has pledged to boost agriculture, industry, and tourism while diversifying the economy of the oil-rich nation.
The court confirmed the results after reviewing the election outcome, paving the way for Nguema’s formal inauguration.
