The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast thunderstorms and hazy conditions across various parts of the country from Sunday to Tuesday.
In a weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze over Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Kano, Yobe, and Jigawa states. Isolated thunderstorms are also expected over parts of Adamawa and Taraba states throughout the forecast period.

For the North-Central region, NiMet projected partly cloudy skies in the mornings, with isolated thunderstorms later in the day affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Benue states.
In the southern region, morning thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom states. Thunderstorms are expected to persist across most southern states later in the day.

On Monday, the agency forecast sunny skies over the northern states, with morning thunderstorms in parts of Taraba and Adamawa. Thunderstorms could later extend to Kaduna, Bauchi, and Gombe states.
Similarly, morning thunderstorms are likely over Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue in the North-Central zone, with more thunderstorms expected later in the day.
In the South, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Edo states could see thunderstorms in the morning, with widespread storms predicted later across the region.
By Tuesday, NiMet expects sunny skies with patches of clouds in the North, alongside morning thunderstorms in Adamawa and Taraba. Afternoon storms are also likely in parts of Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba states.
The North-Central region will experience partly cloudy mornings, while thunderstorms are forecast for the afternoon and evening over the FCT, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and Niger states. Southern states will likely face morning thunderstorms, particularly in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa, with storms continuing later in the day.
NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions, warning that strong winds may accompany thunderstorms. It also urged northern residents to be cautious due to the possibility of suspended dust particles.
Airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather information from NiMet for safe flight operations. The public was encouraged to stay updated through the agency’s official website: www.nimet.gov.ng.
