The Labour Party has suspended Abia State Governor Alex Otti and five of its elected lawmakers in the National Assembly over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspended lawmakers include Senator Ireti Kingibe, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, Hon. Amobi Ogah, and Hon. Seyi Sowunmi.
The suspensions were announced by the National Secretary of the party, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, after the National Executive Committee ratified the recommendations of a disciplinary committee set up to investigate the allegations.
The party also criticized Nenadi Usman, the chairperson of a caretaker committee set up by a rival faction led by former presidential candidate Peter Obi, over corruption allegations and her loyalty to the party.
The Labour Party reiterated its stance on not entering into any coalition or merger, stating its intention to contest the 2027 general election as a standalone party.
