The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has officially closed registration for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, with the airlift of pilgrims set to commence on May 9.
The commission’s Assistant Director, Information and Publication Division, Hajia Fatima Usara, announced that the closure was necessary to focus on logistics and ensure sufficient resources for the pilgrims’ journey.
Any Hajj fare deposits received after the May 2 deadline will be refunded.
The inaugural flight, hosted by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, will carry 315 pilgrims from Imo, Abia, and Bayelsa states.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima is expected to attend the event as Special Guest of Honour.
A 36-man advance team of NAHCON staff and medical personnel has already departed for Saudi Arabia to prepare for the pilgrims’ arrival.
