Remo Stars sealed their historic 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title in grand style on Sunday, coming from behind to hammer Ikorodu City 4-1 on matchday 37 in Ikenne.

The Sky Blue Stars, who had already secured the championship two weeks earlier, were treated to a guard of honour by their visiting Southwest rivals as fans packed the stadium for the coronation day. Among the dignitaries present were Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, and NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye.
Despite the celebratory atmosphere, Ikorodu City struck first in the 15th minute through captain Tosin Oyedokun, whose powerful shot slipped past goalkeeper Serge Obassa.

Unshaken, Remo Stars responded with determination. Sikiru Alimi equalised in the 37th minute with a calm finish—his fifth goal of the season—before Ibrahim Shuaib put the hosts ahead just four minutes later, courtesy of a fine assist from Babatunde Bello.
Bello turned scorer in the second half, making it 3-1 shortly after the restart to lift the mood even further among the home fans. Olamilekan Adedayo capped off the scoring in the 67th minute to seal a dominant display.
Ikorodu City fought hard to reduce the deficit but couldn’t find a breakthrough as Remo eased to their 22nd win of the campaign, taking their points tally to an unassailable 71 ahead of their final game away to Bayelsa United.
The loss was a blow for Ikorodu City, whose hopes of securing a CAF Confederation Cup spot now hang in the balance. With 56 points and just one game left, they trail third-placed Abia Warriors by four points.
