World 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan, is set to resume her 2025 outdoor campaign this Sunday at the fourth leg of the Wanda Diamond League in Rabat, Morocco.
The 28-year-old Nigerian has been officially listed among the athletes competing in the women’s 100m hurdles, marking her second Diamond League appearance of the season. Amusan opened her season on April 26 at the Diamond League meet in Xiamen, China, where she placed fourth with a time of 12.74 seconds behind Danielle Williams (Jamaica), Grace Stark (USA), and Marione Fourie (South Africa).

Although scheduled to run at the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China, earlier this month, Amusan missed the event due to Nigeria’s withdrawal by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria. Despite being previously announced among the participants, she was also a late no-show at the Atlanta City Games in Georgia.
She, however, featured in the second Diamond League meet in Shanghai on May 3, again finishing fourth behind Stark, Williams, and Fourie. The third leg of the League, held in Doha on May 16, did not include the women’s 100m hurdles, explaining her absence there.

Sunday’s meet in Rabat presents a vital opportunity for Amusan to build momentum ahead of the 2025 World Athletics Championships scheduled for September in Tokyo, Japan. A strong performance could boost her confidence as she continues her quest for global dominance in the hurdles.
Beyond Amusan’s appearance, the Rabat Diamond League is expected to host several global track and field stars. Dutch sensation Femke Bol, the world indoor 400m record holder, will begin her outdoor season in the 400m hurdles as she targets a fifth Diamond League crown.
Botswana’s rising sprint star Letsile Tebogo will compete in both the 100m and 200m events, facing stiff competition from American Erriyon Knighton, Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, and South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk and Akani Simbine. However, reigning world and Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles will not be in attendance.
The Rabat meet is shaping up to be a thrilling showcase of elite athletics, with Amusan’s performance sure to be closely watched by fans and analysts alike.
