Adewunmi Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, has died after a brief illness.
Born on December 2, 1965, Onanuga was 59 years old at the time of her passing on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. She represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State.
Onanuga was remembered by the House of Representatives as a “passionate advocate” who championed policies empowering women and improving social infrastructure. Reps spokesman Akin Rotimi praised her intellect, passion, and humility, which earned her admiration among colleagues and constituents.
The House of Representatives extended condolences to Onanuga’s family, friends, and associates, as well as the government and people of Ogun State.
Her legacy of service and dedication is expected to inspire future generations. Funeral arrangements will be announced by her family in due course.
