Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has sent a delegation to Kano State to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the loss of athletes and officials who died in a ghastly motor accident while returning home from the just-concluded National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games 2024.
The governor also offered N1m each to the families of the victims as initial support, totaling N31m.
The delegation, led by Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, expressed Abiodun’s loss over the incident and commiserated with the Kano State Government, praying for the speedy recovery of those in the hospital and for the families and friends of the deceased to bear the irreparable loss.
The delegation was received by officials of the Kano State Government, led by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdusalam Gwarzo, who appreciated the visit and disclosed that Governor Abiodun had earlier called to commiserate with the government and people of Kano State over the incident.
The Kano State Deputy Governor expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying the government was in no doubt about Governor Abiodun’s concern.
The delegation included the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi; Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka; and other officials.
