President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and resilient amid ongoing economic reforms, acknowledging that the country is not yet where it aspires to be but is on the path to progress.

In his Eid-el-Kabir message to the nation on Thursday, Tinubu said the festival is a reminder of core values that transcend religious devotion, including sacrifice, perseverance, compassion, and collective responsibility for national development.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of our duties beyond faith — to be resilient, tolerant, and compassionate, and to remain committed to building a better Nigeria,” the President said in a personally signed statement.

Reflecting on the state of the nation, he admitted that the journey has been challenging, with moments of doubt and hardship. However, he said his administration’s bold reforms are beginning to yield results, noting that some key economic indicators are showing signs of improvement.

“We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope,” Tinubu said. “Let us hold on to our faith and persevere. The toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity that we promised two years ago.”

He stressed that the ultimate goal of his administration’s policies is not just economic growth in numbers but meaningful improvements in citizens’ lives, and a firm foundation for sustainable development.

“There are no quick fixes,” he added. “But we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all. We remain steadfast in delivering our Renewed Hope Agenda to bring prosperity to every Nigerian.”

On a more somber note, the President extended his condolences to the people of Mokwa, Niger State, following the deadly flooding that claimed over 150 lives and caused extensive damage.

“Let us pray for the repose of those who lost their lives and offer support to those affected,” he said. “We must stand together with the government to provide relief and recovery for the victims.”

As the Eid celebrations unfold, Tinubu called on Nigerians to remember the less privileged, frontline security personnel, and the nation’s leaders in their prayers.

“May those who have more remember those in need, sharing kindness and support as true brothers and sisters,” he said. “Let the virtues of sacrifice, loyalty, and shared humanity bind us together.”

He concluded by wishing the nation a peaceful and joyous celebration:
“May the joy and blessings of Eid-ul-Adha multiply in our lives and in the life of our great nation. May Almighty Allah accept our acts of worship and continue to bless Nigeria.”
