President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja following a two-week visit to Lagos, where he celebrated the Eid al-Adha festival and commissioned several key infrastructure projects.
The president, who departed from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, was seen off by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other senior government officials. Upon arrival in Abuja, Tinubu proceeded to attend the inauguration of the newly rehabilitated and refurbished Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.

Speaking at the event, President Tinubu commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his leadership and urged him to remain focused despite distractions.
“And I am glad, Nyesom Wike, you are reflecting that. Don’t pay attention to busybodies and the bystanders, and whatever they say. Continue with your good work. You are a transformational leader. You have the vision, foresight, and determination to succeed,” Tinubu remarked.
President Tinubu arrived in Lagos on May 27, 2025, and actively participated in a series of official and ceremonial events. He was a key figure at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), held in Lagos, before joining other Muslim faithful in the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

During his stay, the president commissioned multiple high-impact infrastructure projects. On May 31, he inaugurated Phase 1, Section 1 (30km, six-lane) of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway — a project expected to enhance connectivity and boost economic activities along Nigeria’s coastal corridor.
Five days later, Tinubu flagged off the reconstruction of the access road to the Lekki Deep Seaport, a major logistics hub in Lagos, in a ceremony attended by industry leaders, public officials, and private stakeholders.
The president’s visit also featured high-level engagements with political stakeholders. He hosted an array of dignitaries, including current and former governors, prominent APC chieftains, and members of the Lagos political establishment.

Amid speculation of a rift between Governor Sanwo-Olu and the president, the governor, alongside members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) — the apex decision-making body of the Lagos APC — paid a courtesy visit to Tinubu.
Speaking after the meeting, Sanwo-Olu dispelled rumours of tension between them. “There is none. There are people more Catholic than the Pope; they cry more than the bereaved,” he said. “Father and son affairs are things that we always ensure that we clear. There is nothing at all. He is my father and my leader, and we are grateful that he gave us the audience to say hello to him today.”
With his return to Abuja, President Tinubu is expected to resume regular administrative activities and continue monitoring key national projects.
