The protest is part of nationwide actions organized by civil society groups and pro-democracy movements.

The protestors chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards decried the current state of governance under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. They described the government as a “civilian dictatorship” and urged Nigerians to rise against what they see as worsening economic conditions and increasing insecurity.

The protesters demanded urgent action to address hunger, poverty, and the spate of killings across the country. They also criticized the rising cost of living and accused the government of neglecting the welfare of ordinary citizens while prioritizing political interests.

Organizers of the protest encouraged more Nigerians to join the movement, saying the aim is to pressure leaders to uphold the principles of democracy, accountability, and social justice. The rally in Lagos is one of several expected to take place across major cities in Nigeria.
