Suspected herdsmen have attacked communities in Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State, killing 13 people, mostly children and the elderly, and burning houses.
The attacks occurred on Thursday night in Juwan and Manja communities, with ten people killed in Juwan and three in Manja.
The Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Amalau Samuel, described the incident as “barbaric and inhuman”.
A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mathew Kwarpo, said the attackers invaded the community, killed three people, and burned over 20 houses before being repelled by security operatives.
The lawmaker appealed to the state and federal governments to intervene and provide aid to the affected communities.
