Stranded Nigerians in Iran have accused officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran of fleeing their posts and abandoning citizens to their fate as tensions escalate between Iran and Israel.
In a viral video, one of the affected Nigerians stood outside the embassy, voicing frustration and fear over the alleged abandonment.
The individual claimed that despite seeking assistance, no officials were present to help or provide information.
“We came to the Nigerian Embassy here in Tehran, and all of them have abandoned Nigerian citizens to their own fate in Tehran, Iran,” the speaker said, adding that the embassy staff, including the ambassador, had allegedly escaped to an island for safety.
Contrary to these claims, the Nigerian Government announced that it was finalizing emergency evacuation plans for Nigerian citizens stranded in Israel and Iran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Nigerian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran were actively reaching out to affected citizens and coordinating efforts to ensure their safe return.
