Legacy FM, a privately owned radio station in Ebonyi State, has reinstated its Acting General Manager, Odoh Godfrey Chikwere, just three days after suspending him over alleged criticism of the state governor, Francis Nwifuru.

The station’s management announced on Monday evening that Chikwere has been directed to resume duties effective Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Chikwere was initially suspended on Saturday, August 9, 2025, after reportedly making critical remarks about the governor’s administration both on air and via his social media accounts a day earlier. The management cited “unruly behaviour” and a breach of the station’s code of conduct as reasons for the suspension, instructing him to hand over all company property to the next senior officer.

In a Facebook post preceding the suspension, Chikwere accused the administration of poor communication, underperformance by appointees, and a lack of clear policy direction. He urged the governor to “step on toes to achieve results,” warning that the current state of affairs was weakening his support base.

Reacting to the comments, Governor Nwifuru’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused Chikwere of ingratitude. Uzor pointed to the state government’s support for the station, including the provision of a new SUV, a transformer, and the construction of the access road to its premises.

Legacy FM’s management did not state the reasons for Chikwere’s swift reinstatement.
