Former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, has officially announced his retirement from professional football.
The 36-year-old confirmed the decision on Tuesday in a post shared via his official X handle, saying the choice came after “much thought and consideration with mixed emotions.”
“I will first like to thank God for the talent and the long career I’ve enjoyed,” Ideye wrote. “I also thank my family and friends for their unwavering love, support and understanding till this day.”
During his career, Ideye featured for clubs across England, Greece, China, Ukraine, and Spain, earning a reputation as a hardworking forward.
On the international stage, he made 28 appearances for Nigeria, scoring six goals. He was also part of the Super Eagles squad that lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa under late coach Stephen Keshi.
Looking ahead, Ideye said football would “always be a part of [his] life” as he embraces the next chapter beyond his playing days.
