The Peoples Democratic Party has officially confirmed Umar Damagum as its substantive National Chairman after serving in an acting capacity for over a year.
The decision was ratified during the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja on Monday.
Damagum, who has been steering the party’s affairs since March 2023, will now lead the PDP into its forthcoming national elective convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The party’s National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, administered the oath of office to Damagum, marking a significant milestone in his leadership journey.
This development comes alongside the party’s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, while retaining the national chairmanship position in the North.
