The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video allegedly showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, smoking, drinking, and dancing inside their hostel.

The footage, reportedly recorded in April 2025 but only recently circulated online, has triggered widespread outrage among parents and education stakeholders.

Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to take over the case from the Ejigbo Police Division, which had earlier questioned the school principal.

Police sources revealed that the principal, who also owns the school, said the students in the viral clip had already graduated. He assured investigators that the school was fully cooperating to establish the circumstances behind the incident.

Meanwhile, the Command urged parents, guardians, and school authorities to intensify efforts in instilling discipline, moral values, and responsible conduct in students.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring peace, security, and orderliness across Lagos State,” Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said in a statement on Monday.
