Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday departed Abuja for New York, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), scheduled to hold from September 22 to 28.
In a statement, Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), said Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national statement at the high-level debates and participate in several sideline engagements.

As part of his itinerary, the Vice President will announce Nigeria’s updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Climate Agreement during the UN’s special climate event. He will also attend the Climate Summit for Heads of State and Government, hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday.

Additionally, Shettima is scheduled to take part in a high-level roundtable on Adequate and Affordable Housing, to be convened by Kenyan President William Ruto on September 24, alongside other bilateral meetings and international engagements.
Following his UNGA duties, the Vice President will proceed to Frankfurt, Germany, for a meeting with officials of Deutsche Bank before returning to Nigeria.
