President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The President also requested the confirmation of Mrs.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has forwarded the request to the Committee of the Whole for legislative action as soon as practicable.

If confirmed, Amupitan will succeed Professor Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure as INEC Chairman recently ended.
