Former Super Falcons striker Mercy Akide-Udoh held an inspiring session with Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, in Morocco on Friday ahead of their opening match at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup against Canada.

Akide-Udoh, who is in Morocco as a member of FIFA’s Players’ Voice Panel, encouraged the young Nigerian players to stay focused, play with confidence, and represent the nation with pride as they prepare to kick off their campaign.

The 16-member Players’ Voice Panel comprises former male and female footballers from across all six confederations. The group collaborates closely with FIFA and its 211 member associations to strengthen the global fight against racism, ensuring that the experiences of former players remain at the forefront of anti-discrimination initiatives.
The Flamingos will face Canada, France, and Samoa in in Group D. Coach Bankole Olowookere’s team will begin their quest for glory against Canada at the Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 1) in Salé on Sunday, October 19th.
