The Senate has confirmed Dr. Kingsley Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, as a Minister of the Federal Republic, following a screening session on Thursday.
Ude, born in 1978, previously served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State and was recently elevated to the prestigious rank of SAN.
During his screening, Ude faced questions from senators on national and international issues, including the ongoing Trump threat and the possible separation of the offices of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice.
He responded that President Bola Tinubu was handling the matter diplomatically, emphasizing that it was more a matter of diplomacy than law, and that the effectiveness of the office depends on the individual’s integrity and resistance to political influence.
Ude’s confirmation comes weeks after the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who stepped down amid a certificate scandal, leaving Enugu State without representation in the federal cabinet
