President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, as he awaits detailed security briefings on the recent abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.

In response to a request from the governor of Kwara State, Tinubu has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the wider Ekiti Local Government Area, directing the police to pursue the bandits responsible for the church attack.

The President had been scheduled to leave Abuja to attend the 20th G20 Summit in South Africa, followed by the 7th AU-EU Summit in Angola. However, he decided to suspend his departure after being disturbed by the security incidents.

Tinubu is now awaiting reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, as well as updates from the police and the Department of State Services regarding the Kwara attack.

The President reiterated his directive to security agencies to do everything possible to rescue the 24 kidnapped schoolgirls and ensure their safe return.
