The Senate has approved a resolution designating kidnapping as an act of terrorism and recommending an amendment to the Terrorism Act to impose the death penalty on convicted offenders.
The decision was reached during Wednesday’s plenary session.
According to the Senate, the amended law will mandate the death penalty once a kidnapping conviction is secured.
