Gunmen abducted several people, including a 16-year-old boy and six girls aged 17-23, from Gidan-Bijimi village in Abuja’s Bwari Area Council on Wednesday night, just hours after President Bola Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency.
The attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the village around 10 pm, shooting indiscriminately before whisking away the victims.
Local vigilantes attempted to resist but were overpowered by the bandits’ superior firepower.
The abduction comes barely 24 hours after Tinubu’s emergency declaration aimed at curbing bandit attacks in several states.
