Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have opened fire on immigration officers at a checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa, Kebbi State, killing three personnel and setting their vehicle ablaze.
The attack, which occurred around midnight, has heightened fear in border communities already grappling with insecurity.
The terrorists escaped through nearby bushes after the shooting, leaving behind a trail of destruction. The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident, saying details remain “sketchy”.
The Nigeria Immigration Service has not released an official statement.
