President Bola Tinubu has praised the Senate for expeditiously confirming General Christopher Musa as Minister of Defence. Gen. Musa, the former Chief of Defence Staff, was confirmed on Wednesday after a five-hour screening session, just a day after his nomination by President Tinubu.
The President noted that Gen. Musa’s appointment comes at a critical juncture in Nigeria’s history, amid escalating insecurity, particularly mass abductions in schools.
Gen. Musa has pledged to investigate the withdrawal of troops before the Maga abduction in Kebbi State and work with security agencies to tackle insecurity.
He emphasized the military’s commitment to protecting Nigerian lives and territorial integrity.
The former CDS was relieved of his duties less than two months ago and is replacing Mohammed Badaru, who resigned due to ill health.
