The 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals feature eight of Africa’s most decorated teams, highlighting the high level of competition as the tournament reaches its decisive stage.

Seven of the eight quarter-finalists are former African champions, collectively holding 22 continental titles. Egypt lead the way as record seven-time winners, joined by five-time champions Cameroon, three-time winners Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria, as well as former champions Algeria, Senegal, and hosts Morocco. The only team yet to win the title is Mali, who have impressed with their consistency in recent tournaments.

All six group winners—Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Nigeria advanced directly to the quarter-finals. Runners-up Cameroon and Mali also progressed, while all best third-placed teams were eliminated in the Round of 16.

The Round of 16 showcased the experience and strength of the remaining teams. Mali eliminated 2004 champions Tunisia on penalties, Egypt edged through in extra time, Nigeria recorded a statement victory, and Algeria advanced after late drama. Hosts Morocco and holders Côte d’Ivoire also navigated tough encounters.

Key quarter-final fixtures include Egypt vs. defending champions Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday, Morocco vs. Cameroon on Friday, Senegal vs. Mali in an all-West African clash, and Nigeria vs. Algeria on Saturday.

With so much history and ambition concentrated in the last eight, the quarter-finals promise intense, high-quality matches as the teams vie for continental glory in Morocco.
