Funeral activities began earlier with a candlelight vigil held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the LTV 8 Complex in Ikeja, Lagos. The vigil attracted several Nollywood stars, including Iyabo Ojo, Wumi Toriola, Odunlade Adekola, Fathia Balogun and Afeez Abiodun, who came together to honour the late actress’s life and career. Many attendees wore customised white T-shirts bearing her image.

During the vigil, actor Rotimi Salami delivered an emotional tribute, describing Ademola as a close friend who supported him greatly in his career. He urged colleagues to forgive any past grievances and work together to preserve her legacy.

Actress Abiola Adebayo also spoke fondly of Ademola, recalling her warmth and friendly nature, and expressing gratitude for the memories they shared.

The late actress’s brother also addressed attendees, offering an apology to Iyabo Ojo over comments he had previously made following Ademola’s death. He clarified that his earlier remarks, which criticised some Nollywood colleagues for what he described as insincere tributes, were not intended to insult her personally.

Allwell Ademola was known for her contributions to both English and Yoruba films, and her death has continued to draw tributes from across the Nigerian film industry.
