A classroom block in a public school in Odo-Kekere Community, Ikorodu, Lagos State, collapsed on Thursday evening, sparking panic among residents. Fortunately, the incident occurred after school hours, and no casualties were recorded.
The Lagos State Government’s Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools confirmed that the affected building had already been marked for demolition to make way for a new classroom block.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the immediate relocation of pupils to nearby schools and an on-the-spot assessment of the incident to begin construction of an ultra-modern classroom block.
