Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara in the Yoruba film industry, has died after a prolonged battle with illness.
Her brother, Ridwan Lasisi, confirmed her passing in a video message, expressing gratitude for the support received from colleagues and the public.
Aunty Ajara had been hospitalized in critical condition, dependent on an oxygen machine, and her health continued to decline despite intensive medical care.
Fellow actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke had appealed for support on her behalf last week.
Ridwan Lasisi thanked the film community for their outpouring of goodwill and appealed to the public to stop sending financial assistance meant for her medical care.
“We also use this opportunity to appeal to those sending money not to send it anymore. The one we are contributing for her sake is no more. Thank you so much,” he said.
