Former Senator Abubakar Yusuf has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, stating they are not delivering the expected results.
Yusuf, an APC chieftain, argued that the administration’s template is unsuitable for Nigeria’s current realities, citing the immediate removal of fuel subsidy as a hasty decision lacking adequate planning and consultation.
He emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan before major fiscal decisions, criticizing the “envelope system” of budgeting, which he said undermines implementation.
Yusuf also blamed weak fund releases and deficit financing for poor budget performance, noting that capital budget targets have consistently been missed.
