A 22-year-old Nigerian student, Isaac Satlat, working as a Bolt e-hailing driver in South Africa, was brutally murdered during a hijacking in Pretoria.
The incident, captured on a dashboard camera, shows Satlat being strangled by two male attackers with a female accomplice. The attackers abandoned his body and vehicle in Moshongo, Attridgeville.
Satlat, who was weeks away from graduating, had plans to relocate to Canada for further studies.
His murder has sparked outrage among Nigerians and raised concerns about the safety of foreign nationals in South Africa’s gig economy.
A female suspect has been arrested, and police investigations are ongoing. The incident highlights the need for improved protection measures for Nigerians living and working abroad, particularly in high-risk sectors like ride-hailing services.
